Counseling Services
Offering a range of therapeutic services to support your journey.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is a highly effective treatment for OCD and anxiety. Together, we gradually face the thoughts, images, or situations that trigger distress, without engaging in compulsions or avoidance. Over time, this helps retrain your brain to respond differently to anxiety.
Examples:
- If you experience intrusive harm thoughts, we might practice in-vivo exposures being around others without seeking reassurance or avoiding situations.
- For contamination OCD, we may work on in-vivo exposures of touching “unclean” surfaces and delaying or reducing handwashing.
- For relationship OCD (ROCD), we might practice using imaginal exposures sitting with uncertainty about your relationship without seeking constant reassurance or checking your feelings.
Prolonged Exposure (PE)
PE is a structured and effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. We work together to process painful memories and reduce avoidance so those experiences no longer feel as overwhelming or controlling.
Examples:
- If you’ve experienced a traumatic event, we may gradually revisit the memory using imaginal exposures in a safe, guided way so it becomes less distressing over time.
- If you avoid certain places (like driving after an accident or crowded spaces after a panic episode), we slowly reintroduce those situations using in-vivo exposures to help you regain confidence and a sense of control.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. We identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical tools to shift them.
Examples:
- If you struggle with panic, we might work on changing how you interpret physical symptoms (like a racing heart) so they feel less threatening.
- For depression, we may focus on gradually increasing meaningful activities while challenging patterns like self-criticism or hopeless thinking.
- For generalized anxiety, we work on reducing overthinking and worry cycles while building more balanced ways of responding to uncertainty.
